Native Ads Optimization – Before The Click
Successful native affiliate marketers are able to combine the before-the-click with after-the-click. Before the click, there are 3 main elements to focus on.
Thumbnail
Headline
Publishers
These 3 elements combined give you the people you want to reach and filter the people you want to reach on native content websites. For example, if a creative thumbnail includes a female in their 30s, then the ad will be targeting females within this demographic. The ad headline is what motivates visitors to click on the ad.
The image on the native feed is the “stop sign”. It gets people to stop scrolling. The ad headline is what gets the visitor to click. If the ad headline does not appeal, the visitor will not click. This does not help with ad CTR or CPM. The ad headline is to increase CTR.
The idea is to have an image that gets people to stop scrolling. The goal of the image isn’t to sell the product, it’s to stop the people you want to reach from scrolling further and clicking on another ad. This is why you will tend to see many “weird” images.
Native Ads Optimization – After The Click
How do you get the people that you generated a click with to need what you are selling? The landing page is a segway to generate demand. With the right landing page, you can outcompete the value of a google search click with a Taboola or Outbrain landing page click. The clicks can be relatively cheaper, and the LTV compared to a branded Google search click can be much higher.
Generating clicks from a native cold audience can yield a higher LTV than clicks from a Google brand search campaign. It’s all about generating demand.
Visitors do read the articles. Landing page CTR’s average between 30-60% and not every visitor will click the call-to-action but they will read what the message is on the landing page. Use the opportunity to capture the interest, generate demand, and push the user through to the offer page.
The offer page should be designed in a linear way to close the sale of the product or service with the customer.
